This Week's "Friend Of Fiona" is Pippa!

Fiona's pick this week has some International flavor as we have choosen the lovely Pippa from Australia to be our winner! We think Pippa is a wonderful "mate" as our official winner and looks just gorgeous in her "To Grandmother's House We Go" custom collar as well as her "Dot" custom dog collar. We reckon Pippa would look good in just about any of our designs given her lovely features and coloring. Thanks to her Dogmom for sending us these pictures from all the way down under and we look forward to sending a free collar of Pippa's choice for being our weekly Friend of Fiona photo contet winner!

Fiona sticks her tongue out at the whole issue!

Well, Miss Fiona went to the Doggie Doc yesterday for a Yearly Exam and got good marks for everything except one little thing...The Vet does not think Fiona is a "little thing" anymore. In fact he called her *gasp* "just a bit rotund"! Not believing this slanderous remark we went right back out to the lobby to the scale and re-weighed her. Sigh. She is up from last year. Up a lot. Like more than a dog should be in one year. When I worked for a vet I used to give the "Chubby Dog - Can't Feel the Ribs" speech to pet guardians all the time, and here I was on the other side of the counter with the Chubby Dog! How did we come to this? As a good Dogmom and a fellow gal who hates the scale I have made excuses for her the past few months. I keep telling my husband she is just fluffy and in need of a good grooming! And well, the weather has just been yucky here and the poor girl has not had a lot of dog park time! Like any good husband he nods and agrees because a gentleman would never call a lady the "fat" word or imply that any extra poundage is her fault. So Fiona is on a new food and exercise plan, she just hopes this won't affect her supermodel status with her collar company. (she has a lifetime contract as spokesdog after all) Also she worries about her suitors Carter and Yoshi...will they love a gal with a little extra padding? Or will their eyes wander to more streamlined setter gals out there? The whole thing is as troubling as that number on the scale! Carrot sticks and long walks are on our immediate agenda.

Clone me a Housecleaning Dog

There has been a lot of media coverage lately about cloning and the ability to clone your favorite animal companion. I have very mixed feelings about this. I mean don't get me wrong, I adore my dogs and cats and yes, I would love to have the ones that have crossed the bridge back in my life. But I also feel science needs to limit itself sometimes too, it's a tangles web they weave with the whole cloning issue. However, I think the bigger question is this... If scientists can reproduce a genetic duplicate of your beloved dog why can't they also create a breed that can clean the house? Can you imagine? You go to work and during the day your dog cleans the house. Wouldn't that be fabulous? Coming home to a spotless abode! No more dog hair, no more slobber on the sliding glass doors! It seems to me if they can breed dogs to do all sorts of things for humans why can't they develop one that likes to do dishes? A dog for instance that likes to mop floors with the enthusiasm of a border collar herding sheep. If we can clone surely we can work on a dog breed with posable thumbs that loves to vacuum. So get to it you science geeks in the lab. Stop messing with nature and work on something that dog lovers truly want...a Labrador that does windows.

Digging Dog!

What a lovely holiday weekend it was...finally warm and sunny and some periods of soaking rain late at night to give us gardeners a helping hand! Fiona did her own version of helping by following me all around the yard this weekend. As I painstakingly direct sowed some seeds she offerred her assistance by digging up what I so carefully layed out just moments after I labeled it and moved on to the next bed. Hence I had to toss the disrupted soil back in it's place but who the heck knows where the seeds ended up. Sigh. So I guess it will be a surprise garden this year with things popping up any old place. Next time I pass a neighbors garden and question the placement of flowers or the coordination of colors perhaps I should see what type of dog they have before passing judgement!

This Week's "Friend Of Fiona" is Maisy!

Look at that soft Golden expression, that sweet snout just melts your heart doesn't it? We were smitten by Maisy and her thoughtful pose here in her ChocoBloom Lucky Fiona collar. Did we mention Maisy is a Golden Retriever Breed Rescue and a beloved member of the Schultz family? Well she is. Just goes to show that rescue dogs are not only gorgeous but also fashionistas. Lucky Maisy is this week's winner and gets to pick a brand new collar from our shop. Congrats Maisy!

Where you at?

Gee, the blog has been mighty quiet this week. I've been getting my ducks in a row and finally made a big decision. The good news awaiting Lucky Fiona fans (do we really have any of those?) is this: I have decided to un-chain myself from my day job (i.e. give my 2 weeks notice) and focus my life on more doggie-like ventures. So in short, this blog will be updated a lot in the future with exciting adventures in making a living through dogs! Will I succeed? Will I fail in a pool of setter slobber? Stay tuned!

This Week's "Friend Of Fiona" is LeeLoo!

Whoop-dee-doo for LeeLoo!
We received so many wonderful pictures this last week we had a hard time picking the official F.O.F.! Being a democratic dog by nature our dear Fiona simple put all the names of this week's entries into a hat and we let her little spottty paw pick one. We are pleased to announce our winner this week is LeeLoo the boxer! As this week's FOF she will receive a free custom collar of her choosing. Her photos are marvelous and she looks simply fabulous in her Cherry Jubilee collar and as her Dogmom points out the gorgeous shade of pink matches LeeLoo's tongue perfectly!
Thanks to everybody that sent pictures - We think you're all winners and we love looking at photos of happy Lucky Fiona clients, keep them coming!

Attn: Lucky Fiona Cat Fans!

As if his name did not make him adorable enough, look at supermodel kitty Mr. Biddles strutting his stuff in his Lucky Fiona Breakaway Kitty Collar. We don't know what we love more... him in his Spottie Dottie collar or the fact his name is Mr. Biddles!

This Week's "Friend Of Fiona" is Molly!

Awww shucks, Fiona just thought these photos of Molly the 9 year old terrier/spaniel mix and her little girl Addison were so adorable she had to pick Molly as this week's Official Friend of Fiona! Molly proudly wrote us to share that her fabulous ChocoBloom collar matches Addison's diaper wipe case! Molly is a shelter rescue dog (hooray!) and we are so pleased to show all the folks out there how baby and pooch can be best buddies if you let them...and you coordinate their accessories! Looks like Addison will have to match Molly next, as the official F.O.F. Molly gets her choice of any of our collars sent to her as a prize. Isn't baby and fur baby bonding wonderful?

Who mourns for the Dog-less? ( I do )

Pictured here is my lovely friend Jennifer at a NYC dog park with Snoop the adorable-dappled-dachshund-doggie. (say that 5 times fast) One may think gazing at this pic that Jen is an adoring pet guardian, alas behind this sunny exterior shines a glaring and sad truth.... Jen is dog-less. Yes, Snoop is just a friend's dog that Jennifer was providing weekend care to and being a wonderful care provider she brought Snoop to the dog park for some exercise and socialization. This whole scenario brings a spotlight to a problem I have yet to see Oprah tackle...people who want dogs badly and are dogless. Where is the justice that irresponsible idiots just trot off to the pet shop and buy dogs without a second thought and wonderful potential dog guardians like Jen are without four paws of love? Who knows the anguish Jen goes through as she walks the streets of New York and sees happy guardians walking and romping with their four pawed children? Her clothes don't have hair all over them, her shoes are un-chewed, she's never had a leg cramp from sleeping in a pretzel position to accommodate a furry child stretched across the bed. Sigh. I mean they have support groups and a whole section of self help books at Barnes & Noble for people who are child-less, but nothing for the dog-less! I think I will start a movement! Sure Jen is researching and waiting for the time to provide the perfect forever home for a dog which is the responsible and ideal thing to do, but who addresses her pain until that day comes? Oh the humanity. Supporters of the dog-less unite!

Naked Setter Alert!

** Please cover your eyes if not comfortable with "collarless" dog photos!**
Just when you thought the Carter-Fiona-Yoshi love triangle had fizzled out we received this shocking photograph! Yes, it is risque and very cheeky...Carter LeDoux posing sans collar in his birthday suit. His Dogmom reports she was blushing over the content of the photograph but Carter insisted it be sent to Fiona. Talk about making an impression on our dear Fiona, she took the photo and put it under her pillow with a smile on her snout! A very bold move by our spotted suitor, I guess posing for the ACES calendar as Mr. November has just given him loads of confidence. We just hope Carter doesn't expect Fiona to reciprocate! Firstly she is too much of a lady and secondly she would never be seen in print without a Lucky Fiona collar on! Good thing Carter's Dogmom ordered him a new collar today, that boy needs to cover up a bit. Which did he choose you ask? Why the aptly named "Carter LeDoux" being featured as a new style in our shop. We better get sewing fast...

This Week's "Friend Of Fiona" is Macy!

This week's Friend of Fiona hails all the way from jolly old England! What a proper pooch dear Macy is in her Chocobloom custom collar. She makes Lakeland Terriers everywhere proud. We very much fancy her photo as she reclines on her wicker chaise in the sunshine. (It's all so very English is it not?) Fiona would love to share a spot of tea with Macy next time she crosses the big pond. For now we can just offer Macy a free collar of her choosing and "cheers" to Macy for being this week's big winner.
