It was just supposed to be puppy love.  It was never supposed to be serious.  But in the vein of 1989’s Janet Jackson’s hit “Love Would Never Do (Without You) these two love pups have proved the doubters wrong.

They said it wouldn't last
We had to prove them wrong
Cause I've learned in the past
That love will never do without you

Sure they had to grow up and mature.  But Lilah soon realized that the stuffed bunny Howie gave her was almost as good as Burton’s orange ball.  And Howard never did return those texts from the bitch labradoodle next door.  They soon figured out that distance really did make the heart grow fonder and that true love accepts us for who we are at heart.  While they can’t go for long walks at the park or for ice-cream dates they do send notes and presents to each other.  Facebook photo exchanges can get a little steamy…and if only they could work Skype they would woof the hours away staring longingly into the other’s eyes.

Lots have changed over the past two years.  Howard is a big brother to a human baby sister….Lilah visits farms off leash and hangs out with some goat pals.  But at the end of the day these two fall back on their mutual love and adoration of each other.

Do you win others over with looks or personality, explain: I'm a really private guy and I have amazing focus. One-track mind, that's me. So I come off as aloof until you get to know me. And I'm such a weirdly handsome dude, you really want to know me. Is my fur as soft as it looks? Oh yeeeeeah.

Favorite thing to bark like a maniac at : I don't bark. I've been known to make a barkish sound if I'm startled by something.
Favorite person: Mom. Absolutely.
Favorite other animal: Mom. I can't use that again? Um. The polar bear, Piper. She plays with me and lets me hang off her ears and her face. Nobody else lets me do that.

Favorite Lucky Fiona collar and why: "Sweater Weather". The colors are retro but the pattern is bold. It looks good on me. Like "Madmen" meets Diane von Furstenberg.

What Dog is Looking for in Perfect Match
Male? Female? Open?: Female. I like the ladies. I'm pretty competitive so a guy love match would probably not work out well. We'd just be drinking and marking trees all day.
Are you a serial dater or looking to settle down? Hey, I'm a young guy. I'm not ready to settle down. I'm already in a long-term relationship with my mom. She's insisting I branch out but it's tough to find someone with her ball throwing ability.
Zero tolerance for this in another dog: Body slamming me. Or taking my ball.
What kind of kisser are you: I'm an awesome kisser! (mom's edit: no, he's not; he's a terrible kisser. Worst kisser EVER. He tries so hard but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that tongue.)

What everybody notices first about you:  Well..the first time I went to the vet here, Dr. Morgan exclaimed," What a head!!!"

Do you win others over with looks or personality, explain: I think they first notice my startling good looks, but then the cinch is my engaging personality.

Favorite thing to bark like a maniac at : The many deer that always hang around our house. We have large low windows so I can watch their progress from room to room.
Favorite person: dog mom,Margie.
Favorite other animal:  My housemate, Kassie

Favorite human food: This question is problematic for me. I am on a hydrolyzed protein diet for my bad skin and horrible ears so I am only supposed to have that and water. However, I once stole a whole apple pie off the counter. I ate the whole thing. Margie was not amused.

Favorite Lucky Fiona collar and why: The Santa Claus collar that my cousin ,Darwin, sent to me. It has sentimental value because it was the first comfortable  collar that was just for me alone. I had hand- me- downs before.

I think fostering a dog is the ultimate kind of love.  The foster teaches you things you need to know to live indoors until the perfect forever home comes along. It can't be an easy thing to do and I am so grateful to all the people who foster and give us throw-aways a second chance at a happy life.
